I've recently started college, again (long story), and I've enrolled in History courses for my own personal knowledge and recreation (history nut). I decided I would like to become a History Teacher, highschool level. I have a knack for presentation and kids and teens tend to look up to me (ok, maybe it's just my younger kid sister's friends). I know the route to get to the classroom, I would just like to know if it's quite difficult to land that position and in the coming years will it only grow to be more difficult?

I had no trouble getting a history job.
Seems that history teachers are often involved in athletics.
I know that is a generalization, but somewhat true in this area.
Are you interested in coaching?

If possible, I would encourage getting an endorsement in two or three areas - increases your options and job prospects.

I taught 8th grade historical past for 8 years and would in no way have completed that for the period of my college room. Privately, I even have been a solid liberal. yet i'm social gathering impartial in my college room. If it ever got here up, i'd ask my scholars in the event that they theory i exchange into Democrat or Republican and it exchange into usually approximately 50/50. usually it recognized that they assumed i exchange into with the social gathering they have been. it particularly is the way it particularly is going to be. i'd start up by calling the instructor and ask what exchange into taught. there continues to be a raffle that an 8th grade pupil misunderstood the project or exaggerated something harmless - no offense yet 8th graders are sometime no longer thoroughly precise. reckoning on the lecturers reaction, you are able to could touch the vital. in case you're thoroughly disillusioned with the reaction of the college, have been given to the district place of work. the college board could be a final motel.

This is my first year teaching, I student taught at a high school and got hired there immediately, there were three other social studies positions opened. All of my other peers got jobs as well so I think it is all about timing and getting in a good school to student teach at.
