It depends on your connection rate...you can optimise your connection rate with some download programmes. See if your internet provider has a programme. Also just get rid of all temp files gathered when you search and have a good anti-virus/spyware prog to clear all unwanted junk!

Close programs that use the internet such as limewire, kazaa, instant messengers like MSN and Yahoo!. Use a good web browser like Mozilla Firefox from www.Mozilla.org. Remove any spyware with a spyware remover such as ad-aware or spybot - search and destroy which you can find on download.com. Use a virus scanner to remove any virus's on your computer. Turn down internet security and any security running live that checks things that happen. Make sure all scanners have the latest update before each scan.

It depends on your connection type. Are you running DSL, cable or dial-up? If DSL, your are limited by whatever your ISP sets, usually 128k/sec. If cable, depending on where you live, it's usually 5MB - 10MB connection speeds. But again, with cable, the actual speeds are much lower and depends on how many users in your area that are also using cable, which will slow it down much more. If you are running dial-up, I would suggest to upgrade to broad-band, if you do a lot of internet surfing.
