White flour and water, mixed well to a consistency that is thin enough to hold the paper in place but not so thick that large amounts of 'glue' ooze out the edges when flattening the paper to the wall.

I never did it myself, but my grand mother made it out of white flour.

take a little dough and a lot of water. then boil it, ull get glue
