I personally don't believe in the death penalty. This is a monster who killed thousands, tortured even more. I think he should be kept alive and put back in a hole in the ground, like when he was found. Maybe right in front of the biggest palace he had. Let people walk by and look down on him. Shave his face and give him a Bible. He's still so arrogant and not at all sorry. This would humble him. Maybe he would have a chance to find forgiveness from God before he died.

Only evil people want Hussein to live.
It was probably a mistake to let the Iraqis have him for trial. A swift military execution would have sent a strong message. Much of what is going on in Iraq now is because we are showing weakness in the face of evil.

tell the people who he threw feet first into industrial shredders to forgive that monster, why do you shed tears for monsters?
As long as he lives, there is a chance, albeit a small one, that he can return to power. The iraqi court has decided, and he will die, for his crimes against humanity.

Saddam was a terrorist to his own people. He's had his due process, which is a lot more than his victims got. He's getting what he deserves. Keep in mind that he was convicted for just one crime, when he was responsible for the deaths of many more innocent people.

The death penalty has a 3-fold purpose, only one of which has to do with punishment.
The second purpose has to do with keeping society safe.
The third purpose is for teaching others.

As Barnes said in Platoon, "Everybody's gotta die, Red." Saddam's time is coming soon.

Yes, he must die, everyone does, we were born to die. It is what we do here on earth is what matters and he did many bad things. I think however that the death penalty is barbaric and wrong and I would prefer him to die of natural causes at a very old age and spend his days on earth in a prison, never to see daylight again.

I don'f think its right to forgive a person who would love to see the total annihilation of the Kurds, who killed many of his people, and who invaded a country in the Gulf War.
