The Baker Report on Iraq is coming out soon.

They say the Baker Plan will make BOTH parties happy. It calls for a withdrawl for the Dems and no time table for the GOP.

WE SHOULD JUST BE WORRIED ABOUT WINNING THE WAR. NOT - appeasing 2 political parties. Some things should be done bipartisan and this is one of them - with only this COUNTRY's best interest in the forefront.

What do you think?

I agree with you. Bush has never given a hoot about his ratings like a certain former president (wont say who, but his name starts with a "C" and rhymes with Flinton). That's why we have stayed in the war as long as we have. It's not over yet, we haven't won yet, we shouldn't pull the troops out. When Dems got control of Congress I saw this coming. They're probably going to send the troops home on a rinky dink little plane, then have Bin Ladin fly his terrorists here first class. Good Lord, this is a bad, baaaaaaaaaad idea.

I think we should not be in Iraq with ground forces. If our government wanted Hussein dead we should have sent in an elite unit & killed him! I know this is against some international treaty but we could have denied it! I believe the real reason for the war was oil so our involvement was about the Republicans, the Democrats & the oil companies - not the best interest of the American people. This should surprise no one...our government rarely considers middle-class American in it's decisions! I don't think we should abruptly pull out of Iraq...but I do think our military should make use of it's "special teams" to stop this debaucle - then tell the rest of the world what they want to hear! ! No one can tell me we couldn't stop all of the waring factions...obviously the media is a problem - the White House tells them what to say & not say concerning illegal immigrants so why not the war in Iraq? This is just like Viet Nam...hopefully the outcome will not be the same! But I agree 100% of everything our government does should be in the best interest of it's people but, sadly, everything they have done lately seems to be geared toward the best interest of foreigners, politicians and big business! Why is middle-class America accepting this behavior - we should take to the streets and protest...but then we are too civilized for that, aren't we? We may have to lower our standards and protest in masse - seems like Washington only understands protests! Why have we let Washington legislate away what is best for middle-class Americans while we pick-up the tab? Shameful!!

Yes, I do think that policy in Iraq should be based on the U.S.'s best interests.

I disagree with you about what may constitute the country's best interest. I don't think this is a war we can "win" in any definitive way. I will hold my judgements about the Baker Plan until I have read more about it.

My understanding is that our role in Iraq is as security while Iraq rebuilds.

The bad part about this appeasement, is that we don't get the job finished.

The US should not be yanked about at the whim of terrorists, and bringing the troops home without some clear US defined ending, only keeps us in yo-yo mode.

I think you're pretty messed up,actually.
Look at this answer of yours:

Liberals go to war. Interesting.
Maybe a hunger strike or a lie-in. I can't see drugged out hippie types in a "war"...but...if the Supreme Court takes away their abortion rights...look out!

1-War is unchristian yet you support it.Interesting.
2- Drugged out hippie.Do you OWN a calendar.Speaking of drugs you might want to ask Rush Limbaugh or Ted Haggard.
3-Abortion complaining. How much should the Government control a human being's body? Really.

The Baker Report, is just more garbage by Bush family friends.
I dont know why anyone would take what it says seriously. It is not a war that can be won, we are referring a civil war and have been for the last year at least maybe two.

That's what happens when you allow traitors to wield political power in a country. You have to dance around their interests in order to get anything done. Meanwhile, they undermine everything you do.

Winning a war is not what this is about, the U.S. is trying to change there people, thoughts, religion, politics and also tighten there national product.

I think you are right.
I am damn sick of politicians putting their politics above national security.
The Democrats have done that the whole war.
