I think Cobain would be both. I think he would be astounded that after 12 years after his "incident" he is still one of the biggest artists alive. Although, he would be completely flabbergasted at all the media surrounding him still to this day because he truly hated the public viewing him as an icon, and not a man.

the reason he gave for 'his problems' was the media interest in his life.

he never courted the press, nirvana always said they didnt want fame, he just wanted to be a musician. If you look at the anti-commercial and radio-unfriendliness of in utero, (which cobain wrote in its entireity and did the full artwork for) its pretty plain that he was pissed off with his / the bands popularity.

i think he would want to get away from it all, again, if he saw how he'd been legendised

my brother has the letter or something and it's Courtney's writing.

i think he wouldn't really care and would shy away from the media.....they were making another album after in utero and then they probably would have gotten out.....i think eventually though he'd be fine with it, maybe even embraced it

not really ashamed, but intimidated, back when he was alive he already couldnt deal with his fame and cult status
