I am watching this movie and i read something the other day about making it that makes me wonder.
Please answer this only if you can help me.
the article said that when it came down to the final battle some of the model makers were running out of ships to use (guess theye breaking or something). So word was they had to improvise.
Word is: Gum, a sneaker sole (or whole shoe) and maybe some other items were used.
Can anyone tell me where these can be seen? would love to see if i can spot em.

In the battle of Endor when Ackbar declares "It's a trap" look for the shoe on the right hand side of the screen when the ships engage.
If you can slow pause through it helps
I have never seen gum.

I believe you are thinking of the 'asteroid field' Han Solo and gang navigate through in 'The Empire Strikes Back'. As the asteroids go by, you can see a sneaker and a whole potato! It's really cool! Mel Brooks made fun of this scene in 'Spaceballs' by letting a bottle of champange float by in his asteroid scene :-)
