"Do Wah Diddy Diddy" is a song performed by 1960s British R&B and pop band Manfred Mann. It is a cover version of the 1963 song by American band The Exciters, originally written by Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich. Manfred Mann's version was recorded on June 11 1964[citation needed], was released on July 10 [1] and spent two weeks in August at number one in the UK singles chart and in October of that year it spent two weeks at the number one spot in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The song would later achieve worldwide fame when it was performed by Jesse and the Rippers on Full House, sometimes in medley with The Beach Boys' Kokomo.

As a result of the song's prominent use in the Bill Murray film Stripes, it has become a popular military cadence.

Rick Springfield did a version of this... but I think there was a punk rock group that did one as well... I kinda want to say the Ramones, but I do not think thats it..

Good Question!
