I have been trying to increase my water intake. So last night I drink a 16 oz bottle water. I didn't drink it fast, I sipped it over a 30 minute period. When I was finished I was really bloated and it felt like I had heartburn. It wasn't painful but it was uncomfortable.

Would anyone know why something like this would happen?

So many variables to your heartburn. What I mean is that your heartburn could be caused from nervousness or from something emotionally that your dealing with, not necessarily from the water.

Recommened is 8 glasses of water per day

But 16 oz 'might' be a little too much for you at one time

16oz is very little water. 100 oz a day is not enough to actually harm you, though there is a sickness than can come from drinking too much water. not sure what it is called, but it is rare. Also distilled water will deplete your body of minerals and vitamins.

well, consuming all that water is not harmful but you said you had heart burn well it was problably from somthing you ate eariler in the day or during the day.just try and drink water during the after noon or during the morning.you feel bloated becaues the water you consumed is filling your belly up its not like eating it goes away when you use the restroom.water helps regenerate blood cells witch you know is blood cells keep us alive.does that answer your question.

16 oz won't do much harm. Dont drink it at once spread it out thorough the day The reason your feeling bloated it because you drank to much at one time and it distended your stomach. Hope i helped

No. Heartburn is not caused by water. Unless you drink more than 1.5 litres in one hour, there is no danger

I read in the paper (over a year ago) about a little boy who was killed when his babysitter punished him by forcing him to drink water. He didn't drown, it was called water intoxication (sp?), or hyperhydration.

You should drink water yes, but not too much to the point that will put strains on your kidneys.
