Rolen has had problems w/ injuries lately and Lee has only real good season. Ramirez is maybe the most inconstitence.edmonds is good and Soriano is great.Puljols is great too.I believe Cubs has the better of the 2 teams u mentioned. Honorable mention could be the Mets w/ Beltran, Degaldo and Alou, If he plays most evryday and stays healthy

Edmunds, Rolen and Pujols hit 90 HR in 1406 At bats
Lee, Rameriz and Soriano hit 92 in 1416 At bats
They are about as close as you can get if you ask me.
2 HR difference? thats it. While Lee was out, you forgot to mention that Pujols, Rolen and Edmunds ALL spent some time out, and Soriano easily had the most plate appearences of the three (at least 50 more chances than anyone else on that list, and the guy in second place? Rameriz..!)
Also, Wrigly field is not a hard place to hit a HR, think I remember a game this year when the Mets were hitting grand slams at will.
I am not a Cubs fan (obviously) nor a Cardinals fan, but it seems to me these groups are fairly evenly matched.

Pujols and Rolen are both better all around players than Lee and Ramirez...
Soriano did play a better LF(RF-2.28 , A-22)last year than I though he was capable, Edmunds is coming to the end of his career, and has never been as good a CF as he has been given credit, yep he makes all kinds of diving catches problem is, a CF like Carlos Beltran is camped under the same ball...
The Cardinals do have a better all around team, but they too have some holes in their pitching staff that they had better be wise enough to fill...

While The Cubs (who are my 2nd favotite team, btw) have improved offensively, you still need some consistent pitching.
As Ozgard said, good pitching beats good hitting.
If you get Schimdt your chances will increase,
plus you'll have to hope that St Louis falters a little
(I dont see that happening).
Yes, The Cubs will be better in 2007.
They could break .500 (and in that division it's possible you can win it)
But I wouldn't count on a WS ring just yet (although I do hope you get one soon).
Homeruns don't win you games. What is the point of scoring 10 runs a game (all via the HR) if your pitching gives up 11?

Home-runs dont get you a World Championship,it takes defense, team chemistry, pitching, and a little luck which the Cardinals have and the Baby Bears lack. I like the way all you Cub fans think you are going to be World beaters in 07,Sweet Lou will help but you will not win the WS in 07, maybe you'll get out of last place,Baby steps,Baby Bears, baby steps. And get it right those 3 Redbirds are called the MV3,and they do have a WS Championship something the Cubs havent had in how many years now?We are just trying to enjoy the best record in baseball since 2000,thats 958 victories what do the Baby Bears have,O'yea I forgot if Bartman wouldn't have went after that ball in the stands you would have won it all,NOT.EARTH to Chi. town come in,are you there,I can't hear you.

The Cubs are by far the better team. They have more community involvement, do more for the fans and they play in the great city of Chicago! The Cardinals you mentioned have had a good run, but their time is over! Go Cubs

Ya but Pujols missed about a month or 2 during the start of the season when he was on fire. Rolen missed most the season. Edmonds missed part of the season. Neither Edmonds or Rolen have been themselves lately.

Just because they got Soriano doesn't mean they will do better. Did Soriano help the Nationals into the playoffs? No, Did Pujols? Yea. So you can't really compare whos better. Soriano can have a bad year just as much as A-Rod has had.

I'd say the Cubs are going to win in NL this year especially since
they got Jason Schmidt but they still need a centerfielder and I would like to see Kenny Lofton come back to Cubbies. Kerry Wood is finally going to be the pitcher he was meant to be and win Comeback Player of Year and Piniella will be Manager of Year

The Cardinals are still the team to beat in the NL Central. Sure the Cubs and Astros have made improvements in their lineup, but they can't win without good pitching. Cubs pitchers just get hurt far too much for them to really compete. I don't see the Cubs getting Schmidt, sorry.
