My son is 15 weeks old and has always wanted to eat at the same times usually. Well now we have upgraded to bigger bottles and he is chowing them down! It just seems like he is hungry all the time so for the past few weeks I have been giving him a tablespoon of rice cereal in his bottles at night before he goes to bed. But during the day he is still eating all the time. Should I start giving him cereal during the day in his bottles or even spoon feeding it? Or should I try baby food?

I would try to offer cereal, but only if it enhances and not replaces the formula you are giving. At 4 months old, he still needs everything in the formula. The cereal only provides bulk, the formula provides the nutrients he needs for growth and brain development.

When you give him cereal though, put it into a bowl instead of the formula bottle. Our pediatrician has always said that causes a choking hazard, among other problems.

Introduce one cereal at a time so you can tell whether he is having reactions to it.

Good luck!

First of all, it is not a good idea to put cereal in a bottle, because they need to learn to "eat" solids, not drink them. Granted it may be easier on you, but of course that is not the point...
Next, signs a baby is ready for solids (that means rice cereal too), is he can hold his head steady well, and no longer pushes out all the food with his tongue (tongue thrust). If your boy is that hungry, and exhibits the other readiness signs, I would go ahead and try it with a spoon and very watered down cereal.
The reason they sleep when you give them cereal (too early) is actually because their little tummies have such a hard time digesting the food.

I definately would give him some rice cereal. I was in the same situation with my son. He always seemed unsatisfied and sure enough when I tried a little bit of cereal it did the trick. Like the previous answer my son also sits in his highchair with his mouth open waiting for the spoon LOL ...After a couple weeks I started trying him with some veggies too. Just make sure that when you add a new food you only add one at a time just in case there are allergy issues. My doctor always suggested the following: start with single grain rice, then oatmeal, then yellow veggies, green veggies, and then fruit. Good luck to you.

My son Was just like that and i feed him when he was hungry, i gave him cereal on a spoon because i was nursing and he took it great. As long as he weights enough, then it is fine. Baby food you can also give him, but give him only one new thing a week, like this week give him just cereal, next week some veggie like carrots or something but only one food at a time. Wish you luck on that growing boy. Dont give that baby honey, it can make them deathly ill, my pediatrion told me it would not be good for our son, he can't have honey until he is three, nothing with honey in it. I could cause you to have to take him to the er, it is botulisim to a baby. So don't give him honey, it made my son really sick when my in laws gave him honey, so ask your sons doc about that.

I would give him cereal from a spoon. He is certainly old enough for baby food (they suggest you start between 4-6 months) so you can try that as well. Don't put it in his bottle, just give it to him on a baby spoon.

By all means just don't feed baby honey for his first 2 yrs. Something about the enzymes. That's what our hospital said anyway. (In Ca.) But I didn't think it was good for the digestive system to feed him cereal in the bottle before sleep. Why don't you ask the doc? He will give you much better advice than any stranger on this site. But I fed mine bananas, carrots, potatoes, beans mostly veggies but used a grinder. Most baby stores will carry one. They are great and will save you $ you will be needing for those freakin' expensive diapers! Right?

We started solid (cereal/baby) foods at 4 months. The average age is 4-6 months, and the longer you wait with baby foods the less succeptible they will be to allergies (supposedly). Based on his development, our doctor told us when our son was 4 months old to start with cereal 3 times a day at mealtimes and bottles in between for 4 or 5 days. After that, it is cereal in the morning, and baby food at lunch and dinner time with bottles in between. Our son used to eat like yours does and has cut down on fluid intake significantly since we started him on foods. He is now 6 months old and doing just fine with the foods. It's funny watching him eat...he sits in his high chair with his mouth wide open waiting for each spoonful.

Good luck!!

4 months is many times at the same time as docs commence recommending foodstuff. i might want to attempt infant rice cereal first then decide on the help of greens first, making use of an same foodstuff for quite a few days earlier introducing a sparkling one so if she has a reaction to at least something it will be a lot less puzzling to decide what brought about it. in case you intro yummier sweet end result first, she will be able to no longer like the greens and it will be better sturdy to get her to eat those in the destiny. immediately, she might want to be regularly depending on formulation or breast milk the foodstuff is regularly for exciting and getting to well known. also, commence with tiny bites, a small tender spoon and function her in an upright position. 4 months is a touch youthful to sit down up, so set her up in a cradling intense chair or bouncy seat or automobile seat or something like that. through the time she's 6 months, she'll be a professional at infant foodstuff and could teach opportunities for meals.

Girl, feed that baby if he's hungry! Some mothers will tell you don't feed the baby until 7-9 months old, but if he's constantly hungry you need to feed him. Try mashed potatoes, jar baby food, bananas, but nothing really heavy. Start with small amounts with a bottle. And when you feed him, don't always give him milk, give him water or juice. He'll get constipated. And keep him on a schedule. All in all, use YOUR best judgement because YOU'RE his mother.....
