If it's fake tree then you can buy it anytime.
If it's a real tree you should probably wait until it's a little closer to Christmas.

About a week and a half before Christmas, that way it is still fresh. Putting an aspirin in the water everyday will help prolong the life of the tree. Sugar water works, too.

I usually get mine 2 weeks before christmas, that way its fresh through the holiday.
