Imagine a team with

Dirk Nowitzki, Predrag Stojakovic, Sofo Schortsianitis, Pau Gasol, Dimitris Diamantidis, Theo Papaloukas and more..

I predict humiliation for the American team..

Sorry Americans but your basketball is not so strong anymore to face the competition..

There are no big tallents like jordan to make the difference.. just a bunch of selfish doped rappers who don't know how to play team game.

the greek team was slaughtered by a spain team that was without pau gasol in the finals...whereas the us team handily beat argentina who just barely lost to spain in the semifinals....the greek team just got lucky and had a hot streak to score the upset...in a single elimination game a far inferior team can always pull an upset by playing beyond their potential or catching the other team on an off day..this was clearly the case in the last fiba championships

First of all the if the US fielded a team of its best players from the NBA Lebron,Wade,Mello,Kobe,Shaq,Nash,Garnett,Pierce, Jermaine O'Neil, Zach Randolph, Dwight Howard, Ray Allen, Marion, Iverson to name a few US players and let them practice for 3 months with more than just 6 games that team right there would destroy any and all teams they play! The US never sends there best players because the players don't want go and then be compared to the 92' dream team! That Dream Team was the best ever but the teams they played the talent was not as good as today! Put that team out there today and they still would have there starters on the bench coming out of halftime but at least other teams would make a little run!

There Chemistry was way better back then and did not have as many ego maniacs as today but those players I named right there I think might be able to put there ego's on the shelf for the tournament and make US basketball look like the best talented country it should be and is!

First of all the Greek team did so well because they have played together for years.

We need to do a much better job of picking the players to field a realistic team rather than an all-star team loaded with "go-to" guys. We tried this time around by including guys like Hinrich and Battier but we need many more "role-player" and "dirty-work" types. For example, I would have liked to have seen Bruce Bowen on the team or guys like Luke Walton, Raja Bell, Speedy Claxton, Mark Madsen, and others who can accept not scoring and work hard and do some dirty work. Of course we would need 3-4 "go-to" scorer types...but that's it! I was so sick of watching Dwayne Wade realize he hadn't taken a shot in 2 posessions and then drive the lane and force up something ugly.

We are clearly the best in the world at Basketball...we just need to put the best TEAM of players on the floor.

The USA could field a Dream Team every 4 years, but most guys in the NBA know that if they go to the Olympics they'll be the biggest targets around. Just think: Rich American basketball star ... I would say that they ae justified in not wanting to victims of terrorism.

Like the previous poster said, put Shaq, Kobe, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, and Allen Iverson as the starting 5 of Team USA and you'll get a blowout every time.

On their sturdy day no 12 participant blend can beat out the rustic squad.. ON a sturdy day inspite of the actuality that.. we've see the US f**ok up many cases earlier, maximum memorably on the 2004 summer season Olympics at the same time as they lost to Greece.. I advise who truly can beat a 5 participant line up as follows?: SG- Kobe Bryant F- Lebron James PG - Chris Paul PF/C - Dwight Howard SF - Dwayne Wade I advise 4 of those gamers were in competition for MVP very last season! sturdy success to any team who needs to face off adversarial to those 5!

Well, part of the uSA's problem againnst these European teams is chemistry. I expect a game with a European all star team would be closer than you think.

It's all about chemistry. For instance....instead of putting together a "dream team" of superstars, send the NBA Finals winner (or loser) to play, and I guarantee they would win every time instead of trying to figure out how to play together and learn each other, etc. Pretty much what Dirk & Kobe have said about the U.S.

the united states need to change, instead of trying to beat their oppents their showing off as well, they need to start playing around and focus because they perfromance is having an affect on the NBA, THE LEAHUE IS NO LONGER COMPETITIVE, THE NBA NEEDS TO CHANGE! FIRST OF ALL ELIMINATE THE NEW BALL!
