YES, as does poor diet.
I suffered a bout of this about five years ago, today I have about the amount of hair I had then, still pretty full. How?
Good diet, and exercise.
Poor diet and stress have some bad effects on the body, if the body does not have enough nutrients it affects all body sustaining systems, including hair renewal.
Hair falls out naturally in cycles, I think hair on the head falls out once every few years, then starts growing again - but if you have a poor diet (and dont look after yourself) - then the hair might not be as "thick" or may not grow back at all - this is hair loss..
Take a multi-vit every day, take an omega 3/6 supplement, and go to the gym three times a week. Eat a balanced diet, and your hair loss should calm down.
I've noticed in the last five years my hair is "thicker" and healthier which seems odd at 32years old, but I put it down to a better diet/nutrition and exercise.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Worrying too much probably won't make your hair fall out but there is some evidence to indicate that being acutely and constantly stressed may cause the hair to fall out.
There are muscles which run across the scalp and these muscles can become tense during times of stress. After repeated stressful times, the pores found in the dermis can become strained and the blood supply limited.
This could cause baldness by starving the hair follicle of a blood supply.
