I have a air compressor with a Furnas style switch with a bleed off valve. My compressor works fine until the set pressure is reached and the bleed off valve is opened. When this happens the bleed off valve bleeds off the pressure in the tank and the compressor cycles again over and over and over. is the bleed off valve bad or does it have a check valve before it? If its at all possible can I just put a cap where the bleed off valves hose runs to on the tank?

Sound like you have a sticking pressure switch. You DON'T want to cap off the bleed line, as this could cause too much pressure to build up in your reservoir, possibly causing damage to your compressor or yourself. Your switch will be easy to replace, and not too expensive.

Small compressors dont get to much more than 80 psi, because people who own them rarely have a need for higher pressures. Air tools are designed to operate at between 40 and 80 psi., for safety reasons. Need more pressure/ get a bigger machine.

You definitely don't want to "cap off" your bleed-off because of the explosive results you could experience. Your going to have to get a new switch.
