At the age of six months, your pediatrician can best recommend what foods to give the baby, but I would give only one type of new food a week. My youngest was allergic to peaches when she was that age, and since we fed her many different varieties that week, it was difficult to discern which made her allergic. One new food per week will help eliminate possible allergens.
Rice, formula, fruits and veggies are a good start. Your baby wil let you know when she is hungry. I would feed her a fruit and formula in the morning, formula mid-morning, a veggie and formula in the afternoon, formula mid afternoon, and then fruit/veggie/formula at night.
Of course, all babies grow at different rates, so she may not eat as much as that. Your baby will let you know when she is full, and your pediatrician can recommend the best way to go.

I don't think there is a set meal plan for a 6 month old, but I have a son who is almost 7 months and here is how is day goes...
Breakfast - 7oz bottle and a bowl of rice cereal
Lunch - 6oz bottle and a 1/2 jar of a meat/veggie mixture, plus 1/2 jar of veggie, and a 1/3 of a jar of fruit or dessert
Supper - 6oz bottle and 1/2 jar of veggie and 1/2 jar of fruit or dessert (usually whatever is left over from lunch)
Bedtime - 7oz bottle
Sometimes he will have juice and a biter biscuit for a snack somewhere during the day, but he doesn't "need" it to be full and satisfied. He is on 2nd foods, so the jars are about 4oz in total. Good luck! I will be interested to see what other people say - good question!

I am wondering the exact same thing. I have a 6 1/2 month old and I have no idea when to add new things. Right now she gets a bottle for breakfast and some cereal and fruit. Lunch is a bottle and veggies. Snack is juice and a mum mum. Dinner is a bottle and veggies/fruit. bedtime is a bottle. Hope this helps

I always start solids around 6 months. What I have done and will continue to do is:
Breakfast- Breastmilk feed and some cereal
mid morning-breastmilk
lunch-cereal and veggie or fruit
afternoon meal- breastmilk
dinner-breastmilk and baked sweet potato, or other fresh veggie.

From a nutritional standpoint, your daughter is going to receive the majority of her vitamins and minerals from her formula. Whether she eats any solids or if she eats a lot doesn't matter as much as does she drink adequate amounts of formula? Until your baby reaches about 12 months, any solid food she gets is for practice learning how to eat food as well as experimenting with textures and tastes. If her formula intake does not decrease when you introduce more solids and she is happy than you can do pretty much anything you and she feel comfortable with. What she eats at each meal doesn't need to be too strict. She could eat veggies at breakfast and cereal for dinner and it wouldn't have any negative impact on her as long as she is drinking adequate amounts of formula. I suggest you just do some experimentation and try different foods at different times of the day to see what works best for your schedule as well as your baby's needs. Gradually you will need to become more concerned about healthy and balanced, but for now just introducing a variety of foods when the time seems right is fine.

Sound like you are doing a great job so far! At 6 months to a year make sure your baby gets 24-32 oz of formula a day. Formula or breastmilk should still be where the main nutrition comes from.

We do baby-led introduction to solids (see sources for link) with our baby (8.5mo but we started this way at 6mo) so if i'm eating yoghurt for breakfast she gets some of that, if i'm eating fruit she gets some of that. Lunch and dinner are the same. I look on my plate for soft, (thick) french fries shaped things and give them to her to pick up and eat. That way, she chooses what she wants to eat and how much of it. We also breastfeed on demand still, although that's usually every 4 hours or so.
We have never spoon fed her, and she has never had pureed or mashed foods (except mashed potato when we have it). It makes meal times so much easier, especially if we eat out. I highly recommend it.
