Is it fair or unfair to be able to dictate a persons life in a state of democracy?

Depends on the person in question? Is he a 10 year old boy? You betcha it's fair for parents and other authorities to dictate his life. Is he a 40 year old henpecked husband? Maybe he enjoys that type of relationship. I know a guy who is very happy with what I would consider a very domineering wife.
