It sounds to me like he isn't getting enough at every feeding for him to be eating every hour at 4 months. I would ask his pediatrician his/her opinion, but you may not be making enough milk for his big appetite and you may have to switch to a bottle anyways

I really don't think that a 3 month old can actually digest anything other than milk at the moment. Talk to your Health Visitor but I would say its way too early. Good Luck.

I assume you mean the introduction of solids?
Solids shouldn't be introduced until closer to 6 mos. They can't digest it well before then. Starting too early can lead to allergies, diabetes and obesity.
Are you breastfeeding or bottlefeeding? If bottlefeeding, have you tried increasing the amount in the bottles? If breastfeeding, try nursing more often and doing breast compressions while nursing to help baby get more hindmilk.

At 4 month baby`s main diet should be milk. If you are breastfeeding, then supplement with formula, if baby`s on formula, then give more!

i breastfed my daughter until she was about 3 months old...how i weaned her was that i bought the nipples for bottles that looked like your own...i got me a breastpump from the local pharmacy and fed her my own through a bottle...at first she refused the nipple, but i put some of my milk on the nipple and let her taste it from the bottle....she took it well.....you can get the pump for free if you have your doctor prescribe it...good luck!
