In short there is absolutely no way you can stop folks from copying your photos if they can view them. "Screen Capture" features allow this no matter what you do. For example using screen capture software that is already built into a Mac and is on a lot of Windows machines as well, you simply highlight the area of the screen you want to copy and click the mouse. If the area includes your photo it can be saved in any format desired. As some have mentioned you can stop "newbies" from doing this by disabling the "save photo to disk" through a web HTML script in your page, but like I say, that only stops those not informed enough to know that they can copy anything on their screen regardless of what it is. Now if you are publishing some photos that you are afraid of folks stealing and publishing for money, etc. you can use a "watermark" program to put coded info in or on the photo to prove that it is your photo. They can't use it without this info appearing in it either visually, or in the data itself. Professional photographers and publishers do this all the time on the web to attempt to protect their photos. If you find that somebody has "stolen" your photo and published it somewhere then the watermark coding will prove that it is your photo. Don't want somebody printing or copying it for their own use though the only way is not to put it out there in the first place. :-)

It is very difficult to protect if not impossible to protect your photos online, there are ways to get around just about any method you try.

One way to make it quite difficult to get the photos is to embed them in a flash movie and include that in your website. You can use Adobe Flash or any other number of programs now that can easily let you make flash movies with your files. You can make a slideshow of your photos using flash, or you can embed each one individually in it's own file. This also is not foolproof, but helps prevent some people from having just the original file in .jpg format, even if they can figure out how to download the flash file (.swf)

You know if you were an advanced and genius programmer you might have been able to develop a way
WINDOW MEDIA PLAYER DOES NOT LET YOU TAKE SCREEN GRABS no matter how hard you try!!!!

So there is a possible way, but you have got to be an expert on programming to maybe figure out how to copy what they did in WMP

Basically those scripts you've seen only stop the most novice users from stealing your pictures. They can be easily accessed by viewing the source HTML, or by performing a simple screen grab.

There is only one fool-proof way to stop your pictures being stolen - don't share them on an international computer network.
