I graduated from University of Maryland back in December 2004, I landed a job with an international shipping company. International shipping is interesting but the company I work for is not. Should I start looking for a job around this time? Does the holidays effect, or would it be better to wait till the beginning of next year? Thanks

next year. at the end of the year most companies are not looking to increase their pay roles. They want to keep as much money in the company for the end of the year bonus. Wait until February to start looking. The first month of the year companies are starting their budgets and looking to see what department they need improvements in.

this is a bad time of year to look for a new job wait till the Holidays are over .people are gone, they do not like to make hiring decisions at this time much less bring you in and start training you and if you notice the classifieds tend to have less job posting. bid your time and start looking after the holidays. when people are thinking about work and not Holiday affairs

Most people say that December is the worst month to find a job.

The truth is, if a company is running ads and hiring, they really need someone. And the people looking are serious.

People in America are trained from childhood to screw off in December. If you are serious, your chances are better because there are fewer people looking, and hiring.

Good luck in your job search.

u can start looking at any time. the only problem i would forsee is that some companies are starting new fiscal yrs and might want to draw in expenses. also it is close to graduating time for colleges. but put resumes and feelers out. you might be pleasantly surprised :)
