Write a cover letter specific for each application. In the cover letter, make sure you address to a specific person (HR or whoever that happens to be the case) rather than a general Dear Sir/Madam). Call the reception to find that out if necessary. In the cover letter, express your interest to work for the company, demonstrate that you know somewhat about the company, and why you are particularly suitable for the role (as opposed to someone else).

In general, for both your cover letter and resume, be succint and tailor it for each application. HR people get thousands of applications. You need to make yours stand out by being specific.

Hope these help.
