Okay they locked up Aramis Ramirez, signed Soriano and made an offer to Jason Schmidt what's next? They already have a stud lineup with Derrek Lee on board. Their pitching isn't nothing to ignore with Zambrano, Wood amd Prior (if they stay healthy). If they add Jason Schmidt National League watch out. I have a feeling that theyre not done.
What do you think?

Yeah I wasn't impressed with Lou Pinella's signing. Recently, he hasn't had the patience with players that is needed. His was juts a big name. Maybe that's what the Cubs need?

It's still a wait and see situation. Wood and Prior are more of a liability than anything else. Forget about them staying healthy for an entire season, it just won't happen. On paper they look pretty good but as Chris Berman says, "That's why they play the game." There is a losing attitude in Chicago and has been for many years. They first have to get through that before winning. It will take time. Personally I don't think Sweet Lou is the man for the job because he doesn't have the patience.

You know I love the fans of The Baby Bears, they are true Baseball fans sticking by there team no matter what. The Riveraly that the Cards and Cubs have is second only to the Bosox and Yankees. There is not another team in my opinion that deserve a WS Championship,I say this only because of their FANS.Now to the Question at hand,Sweet Lou will help them alot,I predict that Soriano will struggle up there in the cold of the Great Lakes
Zambrano is a STUD (I wish we had him) Wood is to injury prone he should be a reliever,he can't pitch 200 innings a year.Prior you never know. But to think they are going to be the BEST team in Baseball next year is grasping at straws(stranger things have happened). The Cubs are a real team if that is what your asking,a Championship team I doubt it

I think the Cubs will be decent, but I don't believe they will win it all... Prior & Woods are a combine 16-19 over the past two seasons... They can't stay healthy, they need pitching, that's always been their problem. They need a starting rotation that is consistently good for an entire year. Like the White Sox had in 2005.

Speaking UNobjectively (as I so often do) I hope they are.

If they got Schimdt it would be awesome.
I think they could very break .500 (maybe a little over?).
Just think if they won 84-85 games they could win The NL Central, and go on an incredible run like The Cardinals did.

Pinella will help, but I also think Alan Trammell (his bench coach) will help also. (yes, I am biased as Trammell was a fixture for The Tigers for 20 years + managed them. He was manager when The Tigers lost 119 games. Hopefully that experience will make him stronger?)

I think The Cubs are looking good right now, and will look better if they sign Jason Schimdt.

If they can get schmidt on board, and bring wood back as a closer, as long as derrek lee comes back healthy they will definitely be a force in the NL. The important thing is pitching, they have it but they need it to be healthy.

The Cubs are always for real UNTIL the season begins in April. Then they show their true colors and are annual flops. They have made some good moves this fall, however, and just may challenge for the division. Time will tell. Will they be the NEW Cubs, or the same old, same old Cubs??

Chow!!

Chicagoans dont have a loosing attitude. Hello....didnt the Sox win the World Series a couple years back and may I add that the Bears are 9-2. The Cubs are just in a rut. Thats all. I have faith that they will win the Worl Series one year or another..

Just because they sign a few good people doesn't make them any better than they were last year. Any player can break down just like Francisco Liriano, or A-Rod. What did those impact have on the Twins and Yankees? Nothing much because they made the playoffs still. Money can buy people, and great players, but they can't buy a championship. Look at the high paid Yankees, they made the playoffs but lost, look at the Low payed Twins, they made the playoffs and lost.

rest of the division is fading and cubs might be on the rise. Still wondering about starting pitchers. Padres, Dodgers and Mets may stop them from getting to world series

Looks like Dusty nailed it. Choro-Kun still can't get over the Yankees payroll. Why don't your dorky Twins spend some money. They have just as much as everyone else? Dusty should get the points.
