You can only use Outlook with a paid-subscription to Hotmail. Which if you don't have you could use gmail with Outlook. Or you could use your Hotmail account with Windows Live Mail Desktop Beta. Which is somewhat similar to Outlook and is also from Microsoft and works with unpaid versions of Hotmail.

You cannot configure outlook express with hotmail email account. They have changed it to paid service.

Hi Honey,
Now You cannot configure outlook express with hotmail. They have changed it to paid service. I tried for my account I got the error saying available for paid service only.

You might think about switching to Google's GMail. It is free and supports POP3, which I use daily.
