if your back happens to have shooting pains when you move you need to get your doctor to check and make sure the baby isn't breech. i was carrying my daughter breech for months (luckily she turned on her own) and her knee was pushing against my sciatica nerve. (which in turn did permanent damage... not fun) it caused excrutiating pain in my back especially on the side where her knee was resting on the nerve. if it's not that then i would try a heating pad and some aromatherapies. lavender is a calming scent. you can also buy products such as icyhot or the icyhot patch. if you have a significant other get them to massage your back for you. at 37 weeks you don't have much longer to tough it out and can pretty much go at any time now. good luck! and i hope you feel better!

I'm right there with you. I'm 37 1/2 weeks and have been having really hard braxton hicks in my back.....One thing that helped tremendously was rolling around on a ball. My daughter has a basketball that is about half the normal size and I put it on the ground and then lay my back on it. It looks kinda weird but the pressure of my entire body rolling around on it helps tremendously. It's better than a massage. hope that helps.

Braxton Hicks are commonly caused by dehydration.

Increase your water intake by sipping small amounts constantly throughout the day. You may have to urinate more, but the cramping should ease. That, and lay down for ten minutes at a time every 2 hours or so, and give yourself a break.
