The same reason black is considered a dark or harsh color, or blue is a depressing color, or orange is a rejuvenating color. Because it just is. I don't think there is any true explanation other than what someone brought out about a watered-down red transferring into a watered-down masculinity

I'll also agree with La Reina...I'm a girl and I hate pink. Not to mention the girls who go crazy with it, for example on their myspace page...in their interests they'll list "the color pink", and their whole page will be decked out in pink. Just sickening...

Personally I think that pink is cinsidered a girly color because when you are a new born if your a girl you get all pink clothing but if you are a boy then you get mostly blue clothing. But I think that is a tradition and that why pink is considered a feminine color.

I think its because women are more attracted to the color pink than men. There have been studies that show when companies package their items in a pink shiney container, a womans eye is directed to it. SOLD!!

Red was considered a "manly" colour, so a watered-down red was thought to represent watered-down masculinity, which translated to femininity for many people.
