someone who "talks the talk, but doesnt walk the walk" basically a person who says they believe in something, but doesnt try to put it into practice, into their daily lifes and how they act/react,,,,,, it doesnt mean making an error, or not living up to your beliefs,,,, it means not trying or even thinking about trying

A hypocrite is someone whose actions and words conflict. An example from real life... a mother told the judge that she loved her children, yet her actions were to starve the children to the point where one died. She's a hypocrite. The most common hypocrites on Y!A seem to be those who preach how tolerant and "open minded" they are yet when you read their answers they demonstrate intolerance and hatred towards others.

Ever heard the old saying: "Don't do as I do, do as I say do?"
We're all human and we all make mistakes - none of us are perfect but someone being hypocritical would pretend - projecting a feeling or belief that they don't really feel.
Example - trying to be something they are not.
A good example would be someone who professes to be a Christian but doesn't live it. To me that is being hypocritical.
Make sense?

A hypocrite is someone who does not 'practice what they preach'. Many clergymen find it easy to preach, judge, and condemn others, but behind closed doors they too are guilty of the same sins and sometimes even worse. This trait is usually engrained into his/her followers and they too become hypocrites.

A hypocrite is someone who will willingly do something that is wrong, knowing fully well it is wrong...yet they have no problem pointing out your short comings and parading out for the general public to know about.

A hipocrite is person who tells someone what to do without doing it themselves, or tells someone what not to do, and yet does it. Making human error is something none of us can really prevent, but we can control being a hipocrite.
