Firefox 2.0 has spell checking built in. It should underline misspelled words as you are typing, similar to Microsoft word.

several dictionary add-ons are available for firefox 2.0
just download them and then it works like in MS Word (you may want to choose to accept the correction, ignore it, add a word to the dictionary, switch from one dictionary to another one (in american english to british english , or French or Spanish, according to which dictionaries you have chosen to install)
