Everyone and their granny seems to think they are in some way Irish so celebrate St Patricks day, but I think here in Scotland our own saint should get centre stage. The same for the patron saints of England and Wales.

Yes St Andrews day should definitely be a holiday in Scotland, just like St Georges day and St Davids day should be in England and Wales, we need to march on Parliament and demand our rights to a day off to celebrate our patron saints day, its against our human rights to be stopped from what we believe in, lets take it to the court of European rights and see what they have to say about it.

I think you should have your holidays when you want them, rather than create another day when all motorways are blocked with cars.

St Andrew was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus, who sat in on the last supper. Bread and wine was served, presumably some form of home brew.

Don't you think there are enough days of the year when people are forced to remember something which may or may not have existed.

Give everyone an extra holiday to take when they like, and say it is on St Andrew. A much better solution all round!

I agree there could be extra holiday categories. i don't understand if there are extra human beings of scottish historical past than irish in u . s ., yet i do no longer see that it concerns. St. Patrick's is properly known by very nearly each and every physique, no longer purely the irish. it particularly is the eco-friendly outfits, shamrocks, irish music, eco-friendly nutrients, leprechaun folklore, and the wide-unfold festive environment that has made the holiday enhance in u . s .. What does St Andrews Day have?

I agree with you, but:

MSPs approve plans for St Andrew's Day holiday despite no vote last year New national holiday will not be a bank holiday or official public holiday Employers will decide whether staff can have the day off

I think we should, St David is celebrated here in Wales, and when I was in school we had half day, but even that has stopped now!

My Wiccan book says the night before St Andrew's is the most magical day and night of the year. The thing is I don't believe in magick.

I am not Scottish,
But I do feel if people believe in the Sanits then they should be allowed to celebrate their feast days accordingly, and I know about St. Andrew, it is a shame he does not get more recognition.
Happy Feast Day!
