The world is so much the way it is because every body wants to make an impression to the opposite sex.
Both gay and bisexuals try to impress the other party, we toil hard because of our women and men, we toil hard because we want to have a good life which entails a beautiful/nabdsome human who is sexually attractive.

i don't think Sex is the motivation behind work, at least not according to the maslow theory.
It provides for basic needs and also for many higher needs.

That's NOT what Maslow's theory suggests!
It's basing food and shelter as the most necessary in life in conjuction to our heirarchy of needs.
I agree with Freud...everything is motivated for the outcome of sex

But yes, you could make a case for what you are asking, and you could make a case that it is for personal empowerment and a host of other reasons as well. I do not think that a 'simple' answer to this is possible, there will always be someone that thinks the answer is wrong.
