Just wondering.. yes, I am a woman and this is a serious question.

Just purely from observation of people i know.. it seem that thin women when they have babies they get a little bigger but then return to their own size, or even if they don't are still relatively thin

whilst bigger women get heaps bigger after pregnancy and find it really hard to lose the weight afterwards.

is this true.. or not? or does it just vary between woman to woman?

Hi,
From the readings that I've gathered, that is not really true.Plus, my mom had a 24" waistline before she had me and after she gave birth she never got it back (she's 30" plus).
Mostly it depends on your eating habit while you're pregnant.I was advised not to each 3 big meals a day,but to spread 6 small meals throughout the day,so that you don't end up eating more than necessary. It is when you do this that it's harder to lose those extra weight that was gained during pregnancy.
Probably those thin women do not indulge themselves too much. So it is easier for them to lose the extra weight. I,myself, am considered as a petite size. I'm 5 months along and have gained only about 3kgs so far.Not that I'm dieting, but it seems that for all of the extra amount of food that I ate just disappear somewhere. But I guess all the walking that I do during the day may have contributed a little bit.

Kids definitely change your marriage! I personally believe they can make or break a marriage - it's that big of a change. As parents IF you're not on the same page when it comes to parenting - life is going to be tough. Some men have a difficult time with their lover being a mom - and now seeing her in a mom role. Some parents are so in love with their children they forget about their spouse. Then there is the sleepless nights, constant stress of raising kids - them testing boundaries. Some children are born with handicaps which add more stress and financial burden -- the scenarios are endless - how could anyone say that having a child would not change their relationship. But, most marriages that lust/romance dies down in time. The friendship blossoms - you become a TEAM working together in goals, working together as parents, and now that my kids are almost gone, we're pretty solid - even knowing what the other thinks. It's scary. We LOVE our kids - always have - always will. It wasn't a question for me - I WANTED children. They're not perfect, but neither are we. It's a learning curve - you do the best you can, and hope they're okay. I have an aunt and uncle who couldn't have kids - I worry about them terribly living alone in Florida - no family members close in the 80's and now that we just lost my dad and my father-in-law - how could our mother's have gotten by with no kids. Not a reason to have kids - but they add a lot to your life. Sure they're a pain in the tush at times - but you still love them, and worry about them. Whatever you decide - it's the right decision - because it's what is right for you as a couple - no one can tell you what to do - it's personal. Good luck!

it really all depends....some women that are thin before pregnancy go back to being thin and some don't. there are also women who aren't thin before pregnancy and then after they are thinner then they were before and some that just stay the same or get bigger. i know a girl who only weighed 105 before pregnancy and after stayed at 140. she had gained like 65. i think it also has to do with if people take care of themselves after such as eating right and exercising or it's just genetics. i lost 21 pounds after having my first child and i was pretty much back to my normal weight but then with my second it was a little bit harder to get back to my regular weight and now i am pregnant with my third and i am 5 months along but i have only gained 9 pounds so far so hopefully i will lose the weight fast after. like i said though it all depends.

Well... I've had three kids and have been very thin all my life. I am 33 yrs old, gaining weight has always been almost impossible for me. I am 5'6 and 102 lbs, 18 months after last baby. While I was pregnant I reached as high as 140 lbs. So I have to say yes. but not all thin women stay thin.
And I have never exercised a day in my life.

I think it has to with the fact that thin women tend to watch their weight a little more than heavier women, obviously. Heavier women tend to like to eat more and excercise less. It varies from woman to woman, but I think that and age and metabolism also have a lot to do with it. Younger women are going to bounce faster because they are younger and their matabolism is higher and younger women tend to be more active. Also, I think a lot has to do with your lifestyle. If you are in a healthy happy relationship, you may tend to be more conscious about your appearence as opposed to someone with a tremendous amount of stress or unhealthy living conditons ( unhappy relationship or divorce) Although, I've known thin women who've gained weight during pregnancy and had a really difficult time losing it. The trick is to NOT gain an excess amount of weight during pregnancy, regardless of your body type.

If you are serious then.....This is not necessarily true. It varies from woman to woman. It would depend on a lot of factors. (genetics, will they work out afterward, their eating habits.) Perhaps it seems that way because big women who lose their pregnancy weight still seem big. I have known thin women to get quite big and stay that way afterward.

I gained around 50 pounds when I was pregnant, and I weighed about 110 before I got pregnant, and now I weigh less than I did before after I had my daughter.

from what i have noiced girls who have their babies young go back to their original size much much faster...i have friends who got pregnant at like 16-19 and they lost their weight extremely fast...you wouldnt even know that they ever had a baby fter like 3-6 months...

The girls I know who have had their babies in their late twenties took a while longer...Im sure that genetics must have played a role as well as lifestyle....but in general this is something that i have noticed
