Chemistry is a study/understanding of a particular dimension of the natural world, as such it has no inherent disadvantage that I can think of. I suppose you might lump in what we do with the knowledge, but I view that as chemical engineering for the most part. Some of the things people do in the name of science could be considered disadvantageous.
