The Law Society have a library in Chancery Lane, London but you will need to know some facts about the case or it'll take ages for you to find out anything. He might even have changed his name to protect himself.

if you go to the local studies department in your library they have machines called viewers, you use them to view newspapers that have been stored on slides or film similar to photo negatives.(paper ages rapid and is easily damaged it's just like saving to disk on a computer) these are usually called fische or film. you do need to know the date roughly and have patience as you could be there for a very long time

if this fails there is a national newspaper archive in London. so if it's been in the wider media, they should be able to help you.

this may be difficult unless it was a well known case however check out the newspapers for the area the crime was committed this can be done in most libraries and see if it was reported you could also ask the court if they can release the information they may not because of the data protection act but you may not want to hear the answer u get so be prepared

well, if you know when and where it happend would be helpful, then you could check in libraries in the newspaperarchives of the place, Or see if u can track down the case file number and see if it was a public case and check with courts on how u might get access to it,
