I hired a dress for a Christmas ball, which is handmade & has no labels. I dont know if its real satin or a sateen effect. Its due back tommorow, and last night I noticed a few small black marks,so I washed the affected areas with water. The marks have gone, but where I wet the dress has now left water marks!!! If the hire place people notice & charge me the deposit Ill have to give them £60!!! Is there anything I can do? Would they come out if drycleaned (although dont really have the time for this now) Thanks!!!!

Take it to the dry cleaners. If you try to do it yourself you will probably ruin it!

Doesn't sound like you really have time to do anything. To be honest, you would have been better having the dress dry-cleaned after you wore it to avoid the risk of losing the deposit. All you can do now is just cross your fingers and hope the hire place don't notice. Sorry!
