Has that become an American tradition let the other guy fight and ide for my political views?

FYI I fought in an unpopular war, Viet Nam, I could not bring my self to vote for either of our last two presidents since they found ways of avoiding service, via student deferments (like Clinton & our VP Chenny) or by the National Guard when the guard wasnt called up, like GWBush.

Most Neo-cons talk the talk, but they can not walk the walk!

I was going to answer this but realize that I lack the expertise being neither conservative nor eligible to serve and without any kids eligible to serve.

I don't disrespect Clinton's draft dodging, he was open about it; but Bush joined the guard to be a "pretend patriot" knowing full well that he had strings pulled to join that guard unit and was actually avoiding Viet Nam service - the issue there is the honesty factor.

I really don't understand why those who support this war are not urging their family members to enlist. Nor do I understand why those who never served in the military are so determined to lead us into a war about which they have no first hand knowledge.

First, you are implying that anyone who has not served in the military cannot make valid decisions on dealing with a threat against our country. I don't believe that.

Just take Jack Murtha for instance. While he has a military background as a Marine, he has made it clear he feels that surrender is the best option in Iraq, regardless of the end result. Even if you disagreed with the war in Iraq, anyone who is not brain damaged can see that Iran is trying to eject us from this area of the world in an aim for domination of the Middle east. They have said they want to destroy Israel and unify the Islam to bring it to it's rightful place in the world (total domination and destruction of other cultures/religions).

Murtha (definitely not a neo con) wants to "Redeploy" to Okinowa, Japan. Do you agree that is a reasonable plan? If so, read on.

1. As I said before, Iran would likely fill the vacuum left by the US upon "redeploying" (aka surrendering), and would then probably take over Saudi Arabia, too.
The effect of this? They would control a large portion of the world's oil, so overnight the price of gasoline, fuel oil, and any petroleum based product would skyrocket. 7 dollar/gallon gas anyone?
This would effect the stockmarket and cause a recession/depression overnight.
Ok, now you realise, perhaps a bit too late, that Murtha is a complete idiot with no vision AT ALL. How do you fix the problem? World war 3, of course.
Americans would not tolerate a new dark age mandated by Islamofascist control of the world's supply of petroleum, believe it.
A Draft would follow and all out battle to retake the entire Middle east, costing 10's of thousand of lives....smart, huh?

In summary, some idiots are indeed neocons, but the greater idiots are those who have served our country but are willing to give the world over to Islamofascism all for the illusion of peace via surrender.

IT's politics! Pure and simple.
The more I investigate politics the more I see the flip-flopping.
It's only good and okay until it service thier purposes.
Every man who gradutates highschool should put in two years of service time. No exception.
This would mean congress would really really think hard. Is the cause worthy of sending thier own kids/ grandkids to war.
This might also change some of the others minds who are pro war because now they have to fight it.

i'm no longer a redneck and that i'm no longer a neo con. i'm an atheist. Do you truly pick to work out Hamas win ? i wager the most advantageous way that i will placed it really is this: 9/11 variety terrorists stay on your usa and shoot to kill. Do you placed up with it ? SIMPLIFIED: Israel - purely free press contained in the midsection East. does no longer purpose civilians Hamas - needs all of Israel to be an Islamic authorities with out Jews. helps violence purely. The Hamas structure: "Israel will exist and could live to tell the tale till Islam will obliterate it, purely because it obliterated others previously it." "The Islamic Resistance flow believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for destiny Moslem generations till Judgement Day. It, or any element of it, might want to no longer be squandered: it, or any element of it, might want to no longer receive up. " "there is not any answer for the Palestinian question except by Jihad. initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and ineffective endeavors."

Some of us tried to serve but were turned away for one reason or another. Personally, I failed the physical. The doc at Barksdale AFB in Bosier City, LA, heard a heart murmur that I didn't even know I had. That started a bunch of tests and eventually surgery to repair the problem. Get over yourself! My brother served in Kosovo and my dad did at the end of Korea.

Your war utilized the draft and there was more of a mix between libs and conservatives fighting but now...it is all volunteer!
Who the hell do you think is over there fighting the war now?
You won't find too many liberals in uniform in Iraq.
Thank you for your military service.

Not everyone is cut out for the military. Plain and simple. You can support the military in ways other than joining. You can also support the military and not agree with the current conflict.

Its almost an inverse ratio. People who cheerlead for this war are not all chicken hawks, but most of the policy makers are.
Who was it that said patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel?

I have always been astounded by this logic. It really makes no sense. Let's say you think there is an over-population problem, so why don't you go kill yourself? Same logic, same stupid reasoning, but it just makes no sense
