I had a moment of Schadenfreude some while back when I was stopped in the street by one of those opinion poll people. She was interested in my opinion of various banks and I took great pleasure in telling her of how both my spouse and I had been turned down for investment accounts with Lloyds TSB as students (neither of us had approached them for a current account) and how we wouldn't bank with them on principle for that reason. I said a number of rude things about them and the lady copied them down enthusiastically, noting that I would be unhappy about banking with them if they were the last bank going. At the end of it all, she told me who had commissioned the research. You've guessed it -- Lloyds TSB!

Yep you are right there. I used to work for the lending area of them which technically didnt have too much to do with the bank itself but the amount pf complaints I got about them was unreal. They have lost so many customers. I now work in Nationwide Building Society and the difference in the way they treat there customers is like night and day. The horror stories I used to hear about the TSB were unbelieveable!!! Apparently they treat their bank staff even worse so no wonder their service is crap. Whats incentive do the staff have to provide a good service if they are not given a good service themselves. THEY JUST DONT CARE!!!!

Had the same problem myself, threw their cards back at them for my accounts which they had drained with charges but for the past four years they have been sending me balance letters for an account that had £2.30 credit. These same letters cost me £18 to £25 each time so I am glad to say I am making up financially for all the scamming they done when I was a customer. Have you considered picketing outside the branch and telling everyone your story? good luck oh the C.A.B were no help only groaned and rolled their eyes when they heard TSB ripped me off.

Change your name by Statutory Declaration (this can be done quite cheaply) to Mr. Lloyds Bank R Money Grabbing Theives.
Take the Declaration into your local branch and ask them to update your details, whenever they write to you and send you letters/chequebooks/cards they will have to address you by your new name!!
Then contact your local paper, they will take up the story and people will read why you have taken such drastic action.
You can change your name back afterwards!!
