If you are talking about the "task bar" (where the Start button is), start by clicking on the bar and holding down your mouse button. Then drag the bar back to the bottom on the screen.

Once you have moved the bar to the bottom, place your cursor on the top edge of the bar. The cursor should change into a two headed arrow. Click and drag down to reduce the size of the bar to where you want it

Once you get the bar the way you like it, right click on the bar and go into Properties. Check were it says "Lock the Tollbar". This will make it so that the bar can not be changed or moved again until you uncheck it.

I don't know what kind of computer or operating system you're using, so I'll tell you what I do if the same thing happens on mine.

I'm using Windows XP Media Center on a Hewlett-Packard desktop.

Also, I have to guess if you're even using correct terminology in your question.

Do you mean "TOOL bar" or "TASK bar"?

The "TASK bar" is the one that's normally at the bottom of the screen, but it can be moved to the top or sides.

The "TOOL bar" is only seen in open windows and it stays at the top of the screen and doesn't move.

Both the task bar and the tool bar can be hidden, if you wish.

Just drag your task bar from the top of the screen to the bottom.

Also, use your cursor to make the task bar larger or smaller, depending on your preference.

Your desktop icons can be hidden, if you want.

Just right click on the screen and uncheck "Show Desktop Icons" on the pop-up menu.

Also, by right clicking on your screen, you can alter the appearance of your desktop, changing colors, styles, and sizes of background, fonts, and icons..

Just experiment and don't panic.

On my own computer, I prefer seeing ONLY what I'm working on, so I maximize my open window, hide my icons, hide my task bar, and hide my browser's tool bar.

I also changed my screen resolution and its appearance so everything is bigger and easier to read.

All of this stuff is done by RIGHT clicking your mouse, with the cursor either mid-screen or on the tool bar or task bar.

This is simple stuff, once you figure it out.

Good luck!

The Glass is filled with life. It is always filling up, so is half full. We are currently trying out best as a species to break the glass and render it, incapable of holding anything, but technology will help get us out of the quandary we created.
