go to allLaw.com and it has a child support calculator for your state. If you dont have the baby for any length of time during the month and she doesnt work it looks like you'd be paying 25 percent of your gross income. You probably will have to pay at least half of the hospital costs too.

It can vary from state-to-state. Typically 20% of you income goes to support your child. Plus you will be responsible for providing health insurance for the baby.

Your lack of a job or savings is none of your child's (or the state's) concern. If you don't support the baby, the taxpayers will very likely HAVE to, and we all have a right to have you live up to your responsibility.

Please stop whining about how your life has changed in a way you don't like and in a way you didn't expect. Your baby didn't ask or expect to be born to a father who turned into a deadbeat.

Dude, if you live in California, you are completely screwed. The mere fact that you are a heterosexual male will give the court the gumption it needs to throw the book at you, condemning you to economic slavery for the next 18 years. It's hard enough making a living in California with its high cost of living. What with having to pay child support, you'll be lucky if you can afford to live in a cardboard refrigerator box underneath a highway overpass.

You will probably be ordered to pay the minimum for now.. which here in Indiana its only 35.00 a week...I would suggest getting a part time job, so you can pay that.. You don't want to get behind, because then you may end up in jail. Do the right thing and pay it. Good luck!

How much is your child worth to you? Do you have any concern for its well-being?
I know you are young, and you should finish school, but this is not a contest to see who comes out on top. It's a child's life you're talking about. You do share the responsibility for the child's creation.

They will order you to pay at least a couple hundred dollars a month.
It seems unfair that the woman gets to make the choice by herself to keep the baby. She has the power in this situation, and you will be stuck with that decision for the rest of your life

I don't know about Cali. but in TX it's 20% of your gross income for the first child and then 5% for every child after that. She could have twins you know. And they will make you get a job.

as selfish as you are you should have to pay big time, but if your not working most agency's will base it on minimum wage!! if you don't pay, bye bye license, get a job and support your baby, it's more important than your education!!!!!! should have thought about your education before you hopped in that backseat!!! i have no tolerance for men or woman who deny their children, even unborn ones!!!!

to timothy- it's the woman's body, and he should have thought about his descision not to wear a rubber. just because he is a selfish young man with no scrupples does not give him the right to tell her what to do!! she is owning up to her responsibility as he should be!!

I don't know about California, but here in New Hampshire, they can take 50% of your net income.

Side note to Timothy: He made his choice when he unzipped his pants.
