Well the first thing I'm wondering is WHY your parents disapprove? Give their reasons a lot of thought...they may well be right.

The other thing is, how old are you? Are you of an age where you can legally make your own decisions?

Good parents want the very best for their children....the problem is sometimes their expectations are unrealistic, though sometimes through their own life experience they can know you are heading for trouble.

Only you know your own parents and can decide which of these it is.

For them to say they'd disown you shows their desperation....or does it show how controlling they are.....you know the answer to this.

Try calmly talking to them at a good time and hearing out exactly what their worries are. Stay cool headed and explain to them what it is you see in him.

Try to come to a consensus together.

Best wishes.
