Don't use net please. You could hurt them.. If it's just about your balcony getting dirty, try to divert the pegions to some other place by keeping food and water for them there.

May over the window shed.

If you do a good job of sealing it all the way around it can be very useful. Pigeons are a real problem in the cities. In many cities there are companies who specialize in getting them to stay away. You should check with the local ASPCA and pest control companies for good control methods.

Try fixing a nylon mesh in the balcony, which lets air and light in but keeps pigeons away. This is my personal experience.

Try a fake owl. Garden centers sell them just for that purpose. It might help if you hang it so it swings. They also sell a really stickey paste you can apply where they like to rooste. Here in Florida they also sell fake hawks. Not all birds have seen owls but they know to stay away from hawks.

Why don't you try a cheaper way. Tie ballons w/ string to your balcony rail. We do it where we live & they stay away. The wind draft blows the ballons around & keeps them away.

It is very effective.

Some sea resort hang wires, birds cannot see them but bump in to it, it does not kill them, they learn fast, stay away for sure. It may be that it vibrate we can not hear that but birds feather in flight can surly feel it.
