Ignorance is the root of all evil. It shows its ugliness throughout history. People believing that god has directed their leaders to kill. Belief that different races are somehow inferior. Follow blindly the advice of a religious leader, political leader, or even a friend. Don't be ignorant. No more witch hunts, suicide bombers, spanish inquisitions, genocide. Stop representing beliefs as fact.Question your leaders, and even your own beliefs. If they don't stand up to the truth, reject them. It's time for us to develop a new system of dealing with each other, based on today's reality. I've started, and I need your help. Check out my blog on yahoo 360.

Andygos is a plagarist!!!
The root of all evil is simply...HUMANS. Perhaps I am more cynical. It is true that different people have different personalities and many of them are in no way evil. But I do believe that most people are evil--selfish, conformist, greedy, rude, envious, hateful, and ignorant. These are the people that ruin the world for the rest of us. Only the truly open-minded and considerate are good, and there are very few of them.

People Have Lost their Way!!!
We the Native Americans Continue to Try to Show You the Way!!!
If we Could just get All People to Follow This!!!
Each morning upon rising, and each evening before sleeping, give thanks for the life within you and for all life, for the good things the Creator has given you and for the opportunity to grow a little more each day. Consider your thoughts and actions of the past day and seek for the courage and strength to be a better person. Seek for the things that will benefit others (everyone).
2. Respect. Respect means "To feel or show honor or esteem for someone or something; to consider the well being of, or to treat someone or something with deference or courtesy". Showing respect is a basic law of life.
3. Once a council has decided something in unity, respect demands that no one speak secretly against what has been decided. If the council has made an error, that error will become apparent to everyone in its own time.
4. Be truthful at all times, and under all conditions.
5. Always treat your guests with honor and consideration. Give of your best food, your best blankets, the best part of your house, and your best service to your guests.
6. The hurt of one is the hurt of all; the honor of one is the honor of all.
7. Receive strangers and outsiders with a loving heart and as members of the human family.
8. All the races and tribes in the world are like the different colored flowers of one meadow. All are beautiful. As children of the Creator they must all be respected.
9. To serve others, to be of some use to family, community, nation, and the world is one of the main purposes for which human beings have been created. Do not fill yourself with your own affairs and forget you’re most important talks. True happiness comes only to those who dedicate their lives to the service of others.
10. Observe moderation and balance in all things.
11. Know those things that lead to your well-being, and those things that lead to your destruction.
12. Listen to and follow the guidance given to your heart. Expect guidance to come in many forms; in prayer, in dreams, in times of quiet solitude, and in the words and deeds of wise Elders and friends.
Hokahe!!!

Power is the root of all evil. Power brings money and money has been said the root of all evil but they are inseparable. Power brings money and money brings power. It's addictive and even more than all the drugs on earth. It's sad that so very many politicians don't realize this. They went in without God or forgot God once they were there and now they are doomed if that's their situation.

There is never a single cause for a generalisation, so Evil can not be said to have any one 'root', but I agree with Richard Dawkins that religion has a lot to answer for!

"Evil" is a human construct..
There is no such thing as "good" and "evil", there is only behaviour.
If we kill someone it's called "evil", if an "animal" kills another animal, we call it behaviour.
Human Nature/Behaviour does not fit with our ideology - we think we should all hug each other and get along, the problem is evolutionary speaking, that has not been viable, a bit of selfish behaviour goes a long way.
Behaviour and evolution has got to catch up with our ideologies, until then there will be no peace, there will only be selfish behaviour and the violence that comes with it.

how can the punishment of someone who rapes/abuses a child be imprisonment follwed by release. that childs life is destroyed now, they will be emotionally and psychologically deranged for life.
if you dont stop all the evil then it will only get worse and worse.
things like human trafficking and drugs can be easily stopped by governments if they actually bothered.
