No, it is not strange at all. Finally you are on your own. You don't have to listen to your mother and father telling you what to do every day all day long. You can be yourself. Just what you've wanted for years. To be your own boss.
And then...slowly but surely...those "adult" feelings begin to surface...you have to take responsibility for those things mother has been trying to teach you. Laundry, dishes, cooking, shopping for food, getting to bed at a decent hour, doing your homework. Scary, isn't it? Throw in all those college rules and the fact that there is no one to depend on but yourself...
Yes, you are going to have a change of identity. Wear it well.

I had a significant change in political leaning over the course of 4 years at college...at the ages 18-22 you're still fairly impressionable and changeable. Probably a pretty common phenomenon, but I can't cite statistics for it.

No, it's perfectly normal. It's better to not be such a commoner. Just make sure you aren't trying too hard to stand out, to be different, to get attention. It's natural for someone your age to begin to become comfortable with their own identity as an individual.

i think that u think that you r not so common because there r so many people at college and u dont get noticed so much. u probably want to change identity because ur life is about to start and u need to find your self because it is the start to the future.

It is likely that you will not only have a "change of identity" as you enter college, but also another one upon your exit from college!

This is a time of major life-change, from childhood to adulthood. I would expect there to be some changes, such as being more responsible, taking charge of your own life, and becoming maturer.

It's not strange at all. I totally changed when I went. It's where a lot of people "find themselves."
