What do you think about it?
Do you think this comes from the heart or is it just marketing or something?

I DO believe William and Harry are doing this for a pretty good reason, which can be devolving money to charities and also commemorating the 10th anniversary of their mother's death...But you know...so many people mistreated poor Diana in life and death! (See what her brother did to try to make money from her burial, for instance...)
I really hope there are only good intentions underneath this project,Princess Diana just deserves honour, respect and peace.

@ Monkeyface : don't discourage yourself about human nature and everything else like that...In this specific case if you just didn't stop reading my thoughts after the 3rd line, maybe you would have found out that *I'm not* actually pouring scorn on anything or anyone. I'm just hoping everything goes the way it should go, without mean intentions underneath.
Oh, by the way: I'm not even brit, I'm Italian :-) lol

I think of all people, William and Harry would be the last to try to 'cash in' on the memory of their mother. So I think this comes from the heart. Since Diana died there has been a lot of talk on how to properly commemorate her memory - I think one of the children's parks in London is dedicated to her. There's the fountain, which has been a bit of a fiasco and the exhibit at Althorp, her ancestral home - to name a few of the memorials to her (If there aren't more I'm sure they're coming).
I have actually been to Althorp and the exhibit on Diana is very tastefully done - if anyone was going to do this, and I'm sure some other people would have loved to, her brother was the best person. He of all people knew his sister best and he of all people would have been able to look at her realistically and not glorify her unnecessarily. Now, although I believe his intentions are good, it was also a smart move on his part - it put the home on the map when people might not otherwise have gone there - however I don't think he actually makes any money off of the exhibit - the proceeds are donated to the Diana memorial fund if I'm not mistaken. As well, he is also obligated by the government to keep his home open for at least 3 months of the year because it has significant art works in it, and Althorp holds other events, so it's not only about Diana. But I'm sure her 'presence' helps.
William and Harry have been criticized for not actively commemorating their mother's memory, so I guess this is a way to answer those critics while at the same time raising money for some good causes.

I think that they are doing it from the heart. I don't really know any other reason to do it because it takes a lot of time and effort to plan this, especially if Wills and Harry have certain people that they want to perform. I also think that it will bring attention back to Diana and her life. It seems like so many people think of her as a "Royal snob" because they have no idea of all the charity work she did.
P.S. ~ I love your pic! Murder, She Wrote is one of my favorite shows.

It's to mark the 10th anniversary of Diana's death and I think it's a wonderful idea. I'm sure it comes from the heart, because the performers are being asked to waive their fees so that all profits can go to children's charities - a cause always so close to Princess Diana's heart.

I think it does come from their hearts & I hope it will raise a lot of money for the causes that were close to Diana's heart. I believe that's the way she would want to be remembered. I just hope that the anniversary can be marked with taste & dignity.

Are you suggesting that they don't miss their mother? What do you mean marketing?
If it helps charity & makes them feel good then thats great. Why do people always feel the need to pour scorn on everything?
When did people in this country become so distrustful of everything & everybody's motives? Can't people accept that maybe they just want to do something which people can enjoy & at the same time help others?

I think a Limo race round the Paris Ring road would have been more appropriate, and more fun, get ole Shoe maker and Demon Hill, ole Strirling Moss went well at Goodwood in his Mk 7 Jag so there is him, Prince Phillip dont hang about either so hire a few limos, couple of oldies, couple of ex GP champions, Mansell, might win if her grew his Moustache again and a host of Z list celebs, get old Ernie Becclestone involved and the TV folk and it could become an annual event.

I think its a fantastic idea - and I think we can all be assured the boys are not doing it for themselves - they are their mother sons after all - good on them and what a brave thing to do - they will never get over the death of their mum , but they are taking a big step to remember her so publicly and keep her candle burning for the charities that will benifit - she must be so proud of those boys just like alot of us are !!!!!!!!!
