"quote" (chriseye) says: ... aww.. c'mon.. just because someone is overweight doesnt make them two people? Those seats need to be bigger for health reasons anyway. The problem wouldn't occur then would it. Think of deep vein thrombosis.. caused by being cramped in a plane.. "unquote"

What about the people sat next to them, i mean if you get trapped under a fat person im sure you would suffer more than deep vein thrombosis.

If the aircraft charges according to seats occupied, Yes. But it should not be for 2 seats, it could be a bit more. What if the condition was genetic? If plainly fat, should be allowed a couple of times on normal charges and after that something a bit extra. Give them incentive and room to reduce. Nobody is born Fat and nobody likes to stay Fat!
BTW, I am thin, if you think otherwise! :)

In our ever expanding universe i think plane /bus seats are too small anyway.
Perhaps wider seats at a premium could be made available. My big family mostly travel club to save our embarrassment ,the seats are much better. We are more limited however by cost to the number of times we can travel.

I don't believe they should have to pay for 2 seats. Currently our country is becoming more and more overweight, and it is increasing at an alarming rate. If we decide to charge overweight people for two seats because they require extra room, then at the rate our country is going, we will all need to be paying for two seats. Currently they are looking at upgrading plane seats as they are having a lot of people complain about the size of them, which i must admit is true. They are not exactly spacious. I think it is unreasonable to ask a person to pay double or triple to match their needs. It is still only one person flying, and unfortunately the country itself is not putting in enough effort to help reduce the weight issue.

Surely if you need two seats, you should pay for two seats.

Given that tall people are now being CHARGED a premium to gain access to seats with extra legroom, why should someone who NEEDS two seats pay for the additional space.

After all, tall people (which I am not) have less control over their size than those who are so big they need more than one seat.

Hahaaaa! i think of they might desire to. it is different than on a subway or something because of the fact you're paying to experience, fairly than procuring a seat. On a airplane, seats are being paid for and if extra desirable than one is getting used, the value would desire to mirror that. incredibly because of the fact you have people who've only in basic terms a sprint extra desirable weight- no longer sufficient to be considered fat yet sufficient to no longer in wonderful condition conveniently interior the seat- who would desire to squeeze themselves in fairly than be afforded extra desirable than one.

No... But I do think the Planes/buses etc.. Should make seats that are for people who are over weight, (For on Planes) So that everyone could fly them with out embarrassing them.. For on buses, I think they have a right like us to ride them as well as thin people have rights to ride them..

~So anyone who disagrees with you must be "fat?" No, they should not have to pay for an additional seat. Should a mother carrying a child in her arms have to pay for no seat?
Watch out, someone might report you.~

No. They shouldnt have to pay for two seats, unless they require two seats, unless defined as handicapped... then its another story....

Fat is not an appropriate way of stating it. It is rude and unkind. It would make it seem as though you are trying to stir up unwanted debates or make rude statements at someone else. I would advise you not to do so, or you can eventually loose your privleges to yahoo answers.
