For most gay men, do you generally choose to be (more-or-less) strictly a bottom or top, or do you switch giving/receiving positions in different relationships or sexual encounters?

Well, as for me, I like going with the mood. No strict role playing for me. Go down on a guy if you really like him and well if he goes down on you that would be perfect. As for being a bottom. If the mood and the guy is right, i would love to. It is all about the kind of person you are. But intercourse is one of the most intimate experiences, so keep it for the special ones. I guess I haven't answered your question totally...

I'd have to say that a good number of the gay men I hang with are much more like the previous post from darknessisserenity (oral, neither top or bottom).
And not to sound like a gooshy chick, but there can be giving and receiving an any relationship, regardless of whether the participants are on the top or the bottom.

Im going to tell you for what I know. Some day I wake up and I feel like Madonna so I recieve it, now, some days I wake up like Brad Pitt so I just Give. So I consider myself a versatile. It doesn't have to be different with different partner it just depend on the day and the mood.

I am about everything that I want to be at a certain time:all depends on the situation.
From certain people I refuse to receive.
But once in a committed relationship it's gonna be:give and take,in order to feel more close to that person.

Sex for me is fluid and has a life-force of its' own and the labels that you describe would stifle the quality of sex that I enjoy.
