Instead of carrying that 1000lb car they could have just walked. Since they used their feet to power it. I think that walking would save them energy.

Try to walk a Baby and a Pet Dinosaur and a Pet Sabertooth,.. all at the same time... for Miles,.. and what would take hours,.. You can use less energy when you get things started (I'll avoid those words like Kenetic Energy).
Might as well take your giant wheel chair and get some sort of rest.
Then you run into trying to haul around things that weigh hundreds or a thousand pounds,.. like furniture and food. Everyone pitches in,.. it's alot easier. Do you expect them to rent a truck every time they go shopping for appliances, food, and furniture that has the same design as their car? Why waste money like that.
