But for no reason at all, they are conditioned to be unlike women at heart. The role they have been given (differently from women) is to be strong, courageous, rugged, stand alone, non-emotional and out-of-house adaptivity.
Isn't it time to view men differently ?

Yes it is. Looking around at even my own family I can see the pitfalls they are getting into with my grandson. "Boys don't cry" Oh gosh. It is society, upbringing etc that make men the way they are. I truly do feel that a man is every bit the same as a woman in this sense, but society rules that men are supposed to be hard and not emotional, if they are any different society treats them in a negative way.
My husband is a very gentle character and he was certainly picked on at school because of it. There is nothing wrong with a calm mannered man who is in touch with his feelings just as women are considered to be.
It has to start with the children not bringing them up to think that all men have to be strong, hard, not in touch with the feminine side of themselves.
I fear that as life has always portrayed men in this way, it just will not change.
I encourage my grandson as I did my boys that it's ok to cry and be emotional if and when these feelings arise.
If more people did this maybe society would be so much better.
The macho image of men is not always right. It's all down to how we are conditioned throughout life.

Well in reality, lots of men are alot more aloof then women are to things. Im not going to say ALL because the type of men you are describing exist, but not ALL men. A majority of men that are aloof to small things that emotional women pick up overwhelm the amount of men that punch walls and are aggressive. I'd say whichever way you look at it women are more emotional. Also, about the "He's a man" excuse, it doesn't exist.. the opposite actually. A punch of the wall or anything like that scares anyone which can lead to violence, an arguement or even jail time. Any act of violence against a woman usually leads the man to getting some sort of punishment. So overall, id say that women are more legally and generally free then men. They are also more emotional ( in general ) then men are.

Hello,

What your talking about is the conditioning of the male due to many thousands of years of something called patriarchie. It is patriarchie that has conditioned men into certain almost predefined roles and favoured men over women in almost all aspects of human culture.

**It is patriarchie that stops women becoming top leaders, stops them braking through the so called glass ceiling in board rooms, its patriarchie that has stopped woman becoming significant members of political parties (except for the really exceptional few!) stops them being presidents of nations & so forth. I could go on and on quoting examples.

**There is a shift going on in patriarchie but its a small one and its taking along time.

**Personally, I think woman would be MUCH better leaders (apart from the disasterous M.Thatcher who did nothing for woman and only played the same game as the men, but played it tougher too! but thats another story).

**One of the problems with the world at the moment is we dont have ANY really good leaders or state's men, not truely great male role models. Most of the leadership I see is dreadfully weak and incompetant.

**I'm hopefully that Bush gets kicked out in the next US elections and that Hillary Clinton becomes the first US female leader.

**Who says men should be a certain way? What is it that defines who we are as men? & our masculinity? I'd tentitively like to suggest its our fathers, men dont want to talk about how much they really love their own fathers (not here in the UK anyway, unless your exceptional). Food for thought!!

**This is a massive subject area, one fraught with emotions too. I could almost write a book on this one?

I was once told that during the times of the Soviet Empire the Soviets tried to treat, and bring up males and females exactly the same, but it did not really work. On the whole little boys wanted to play with weapons and little girls wanted to play with dolls and houses. People are not stronger or better than nature.

Other than San Fransisco men are viewed differently.

Men are naturally the hunter, the leader, and the providers.

What a crock of sh*t. Are you a man? I haven't met one yet the way you describe.

What the hell is "out of house adaptivity"?
