You can have a "crude extract" - no other solutions
or the :"ethanolic extract " - use ethanol to extract substances

Upon collection of plants, wash carefully and then air dry avoiding the contact of the parts of the plants to by source of contamination. Then perform extraction by grinding the plant parts and getting crude extract or using ethanol after grinding to get extract.

first you have to pick a solvent, then immerse your sample in it so that specific compounds go with the solvent so you can be able to extract it from the liquid. usually water is enough then heat it then extract using a suction filter.
