The correct spelling is Nativity.

Yeah, anything starting with "nat" comes from the Latin for birth. Think of words like neonatal, prenatal, native (which refers to where a person was born), etc.

"Nav" would indicate ships and sailing like in navy, navigate and words like that.

Like others have said, if you saw it spelled "navitity," you just saw a misspelling.

Nativity as far as i know is the correct spelling for 1. birth of Jesus Christ: the birth of Jesus Christ, which is celebrated by Christians at Christmas
2. representation of Jesus Christ's birth: an artistic representation of the events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ

I have only seen it spelt as Nativity. And as far as I know that's the right way to spell it. :-)
