Someone asked my ethnicity and I'm not entirely sure what I am. I think Judaism is an ethnicity right? I'm caucasion, so do I just say that's my ethnicity, or is the answer to that question 'Jewish Caucasion?'

Jewish is your ethnicity. It is part of the semitic group along with the Arabs. You may or may not also have Judaism as your religion, but that is a separate issue entirely.

NO! Jewish is NOT an Ethnicity. It's a religion. A Jewish person could be from any country. It's like me asking if catholic is an ethnicity. You should just say you are caucasian.

If you are a Jew from Germany, your Ashkenazim Jew. These include those from Russia and central or eastern Europe. They make up the majority of Jews in the US. Many of the Ashkenazim iimigrated to other countries because of racism., So you should check your family history. Sephardim Jew. They tend to live where Muslims once hold sway. Spain, North Africa and the middle east. Isreal is a toss up of all the Jews. Jews tend not to be as pure blood as many try to lead people to believe. When they were force to scatter through out the world they intermarried. Jews in Ethiopia are black. Those in India look Indian. Those in Germany are fairer in hair and skin. Jewish is an ethnicity, but Judaism is a religion.
Caucasian is such an awkward term. Most people who 'look white' apply it to themselves. If you want to get precise, Jews are a Semitic race, not Caucasian.
Isn't it amazing how many labels we apply to ourselves and each other?

By ethnicity I think they mean is what country did your family come from originally? Jewish is a religion actually, unless you are actually from Israel.......but even then it would be an Jewish Israelite.
