His best friend who watched the film said after the stingray attacked, Steve pulled the barb out of his chest and just died instantly. He said it should never been seen, not only out of respect for Steve but because it's so disturbing. Why don't you write to Mrs. Irwin and her children, send them a nice note and perhaps a contribution to help carry on Steve Irwin's work. It would mean alot to her, I'm sure.

I heard that Irwin's wife requested that the original footage of his death be ruined right after it was used during the police investigation. I don't think this was ever released publicly. I'd be suprised if it was.
